Everything people ask before buying the HidrateSpark PRO 2 — compatibility, sizing, battery, cleaning, and more.
Compatibility & App
Does the HidrateSpark PRO 2 work with Android?
Yes. The HidrateSpark app is available free for both iOS and Android. Bluetooth syncing works on both platforms. However, Apple Find My and direct Apple Health sync are iOS-only features. Android users can sync with Google Fit / Health Connect instead.
Does it sync with Apple Health automatically?
Yes, but not instantly. The PRO 2 syncs to the HidrateSpark app via Bluetooth, which then pushes data to Apple Health. It's not a real-time push — you'll typically see your hydration data updated when you open the app or within a few minutes of drinking. Fully automatic after initial setup.
Does it work with Fitbit?
Yes. The HidrateSpark app integrates with Fitbit to sync your hydration data. Connect it once in the app settings and your water intake will appear in your Fitbit dashboard automatically.
Can I use it without the app?
The bottle works as a regular insulated water bottle without the app. The glow reminders still work on their last saved schedule. However, tracking your intake, customizing reminders, and seeing hydration history all require the app. The app is free.
Does it work with Apple Watch?
Not directly. There's no native Apple Watch app for HidrateSpark yet. Your hydration data syncs to Apple Health on your iPhone, which is viewable on the Watch through the Health app — but you can't log or view data directly from the Watch face.
What is Apple Find My and how does it work on this bottle?
Apple Find My is built into the PRO 2 sensor puck. When you mark your bottle as lost, any iPhone or Apple device that comes within Bluetooth range anonymously pings its location back to you — even without Wi-Fi. At a gym or office, this typically locates the bottle within 30 seconds. It's the same network used to find AirTags.
Sizing & Design
Which size should I get — 21 oz or 32 oz?
Get the 21 oz if: you want cup holder compatibility, carry a bag, or prefer a lighter bottle. Get the 32 oz if: you sit at a desk all day and want to refill less often. The 32 oz has a wide base that doesn't fit standard car cup holders, which is a genuine drawback for commuters.
Does the 32 oz fit in a car cup holder?
No. The 32 oz version has a wide base that won't fit standard car or bike cup holders. The 21 oz fits most cup holders. If portability matters, go with the 21 oz.
Is the chug lid or straw lid better?
Personal preference. The chug lid is better for fast hydration during workouts. The straw lid is better for desk use and sipping throughout the day without tilting the bottle. Both are leak-resistant with a locking mechanism. Both work equally well with the sensor for tracking.
Can I swap the sensor between bottles?
Yes, but with a size match requirement. The small sensor is compatible with the 21 oz and 30 oz tumbler. The large sensor only fits the 32 oz. You can own multiple bottle bodies and move the sensor between them as long as the sizes are compatible.
Battery & Charging
How long does the battery last?
Up to 21 days on a single charge with typical use. Real-world battery life varies based on how often glows trigger and how frequently you sync via Bluetooth. Most users report needing to charge every 2–3 weeks.
How do you charge it?
Remove the sensor puck from the base of the bottle and charge it via the USB-C port on the puck. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours. The bottle body itself does not charge — only the sensor puck.
What happens if the battery dies?
The bottle still works as a regular insulated water bottle. You just lose the glow reminders and automatic tracking until the sensor is recharged. No data is lost — the app retains your history.
Does it come with a charging cable?
Yes. A USB-C charging cable is included in the box. Any standard USB-C cable also works — no proprietary connector needed, which is a significant upgrade over the previous HidrateSpark models.
Cleaning & Care
Is the HidrateSpark PRO 2 dishwasher safe?
The bottle body is top-rack dishwasher safe. The sensor puck and lid should be hand-washed only — the electronics in the puck are not waterproof under dishwasher conditions. Remove the puck before washing the bottle body.
How do I clean it properly?
Remove the sensor puck before cleaning. Wash the bottle body with warm soapy water or put it on the top rack of the dishwasher. Hand-wash the puck with a damp cloth — don't submerge it. The lid can be hand-washed or dishwasher-safe depending on the model.
Is it worth it?
Is the HidrateSpark PRO 2 worth the price?
Yes, if you're the right buyer. If you already track health data, struggle to remember to drink water, or are in the Apple ecosystem — it's genuinely the best option available. If you just want a reminder to drink water and don't care about tracking accuracy or app integration, a cheaper bottle delivers the basics for less.
Who shouldn't buy it?
Skip it if you already drink enough water naturally, find app-connected devices annoying, or need a budget-friendly option. The glow and chime every 30 minutes is a feature to someone who forgets — and an irritation to someone who doesn't. Read the full review to decide if it fits your habits.
